Abstract or brief
introduction of the workshop
|
Following a traumatic
events, people typically describe a disorder
of feeling things like relief to be alive,
followed by stress, fear, and anger. They
also often find they are unable to stop
thinking about what happened. We want to
give an introduction to the disorder of
traumatic events discussing all asked
questions about the effects of trauma,
including basic information about PTSD and
other common reactions.
The outline being:
1. Introduction to the disorder of traumatic
events:
What are the signs and symptoms of disorders
of traumatic events? What is Posttraumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD)? How do disorders of
traumatic events develop? What are other
common problems?
2. Diagnostics: How of the disorder of
traumatic events and PTSD assessed? What are
the risk factors and protective factors for
the development of PTSD?
3. Therapeutic concepts for the treatment of
the disorder of traumatic events:
Treatments for PTSD disorder of traumatic
events and PTSD usually include
psychological and medical treatments. Today,
there are good treatments available.
Different types of psychotherapies, such as
psychodynamic approach, cognitive therapy,
exposure therapy will be discussed as well
as special treatment procedures like EMDR.
Focus will be an integrative
psychotherapeutic approach.
4. Discussing cross-cultural characteristics
of the disorder of traumatic events: The
socio-cultural context is of great
importance; differences therefore exist for
the different cultures, societies and
countries with regard to the development of
disorders of traumatic events and PTSD, the
organization of the psychotherapeutic
treatment structures and in the application
of psychotherapy. This is a very important
aspect for the future development, because
Chinese psychotherapy will use many
theoretical and practical aspects of the
^western stile ̄ of psychotherapy, but in
conclusion, the Chinese psychotherapy will
differ in essential assumptions and topics
and will discover its own structures and
procedures Therefore the trainers of this
workshop will be Chinese and German.
5. Case reports of participants: Supervision
of cases of participants
